Duncan Temple Lang (2015-16)

Duncan Temple Lang is a professor of statistics. He studies innovations in information technology and how to integrate computer science research concepts with the process of scientific and statistical research.

Duncan currently works on a number of projects, most of them with the central theme of exploring the next generation of information technology and integrating it with statistics. He is director of the UC Davis Data Science Initiative.

Before joining the faculty at UC Davis, Temple Lang worked in the Statistics and Data Mining group at Bell Labs, the research arm of Lucent Technologies. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a Ph.D. in Statistics.

Duncan Temple Lang's Fall 2015 Proseminar, led in collaboration with Petr Janata, was entitled Mining the Social Web: Crowdsourcing Autobiographical Memory Research in the Age of Big Data.
