Robert Faris (2016-17)

Bob Faris is an associate professor of sociology. His research interests include using social network analysis to examine the emergence of conflict, aggression, and other social problems.

Bob focuses on research involving bullies, drinking and drugs and dating violence. One of these projects lead to a collaboration with Anderson Cooper, specifically focusing on bullying. He is now continuing his work developing a new line of research investigating the dynamics of social networks through time and their implications for the life course. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His 2015-16 Proseminar, led in collaboration with Chris Smith, is entitled Social Network Analysis for Social Scientists.
