Joseph Dumit is the Director of ISS and a Professor of Science & Technology Studies (STS) and of Anthropology at UC Davis. His research examines how science and medicine change, and how the lives of Americans, including consumers, patients, doctors and scientists also change as the nature of facts and evidence change.
Vicky Austin is the Assistant Director of ISS. She is the lead staff member and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and for assisting the director in determining the strategic direction of the Institute.
Belinda Martineau is the Grant Writer with ISS. She assists Division of Social Sciences faculty with developing and writing proposals to a wide range of funding agencies and organizations for grants and contracts that support the work of the Institute.
Monica Fischer is the Financial Analyst for ISS. She manages and provides highly technical financial services for ISS.
John Daniels is the Statistical Programming Consultant and Systems Administrator for the Social Science Data Service. He maintains the SSDS central research systems, and provides expert consulting for the most commonly used statistical and mathematical software applications employed by Division of Social Science researchers. He also provides general research-oriented computing advice for more specialized projects.
Ben Hinshaw is responsible for ISS marketing and communications, including web content, newsletters, and social media.
Rob Martinsen is a Computational and Data Science Research Specialist who works with creating and analyzing research datasets.
Jeremy Till plans and coordinates all ISS and ISS-related events including conferences, lectures, workshops, and retreats. He also provides event-planning services to other programs and departments within the Division of Social Sciences.
