ISS hosts the Sheffrin Lectures in Public Policy, Noon Lectures, and Distinguished Lectures.
ISS Proseminars give selected faculty (designated as ISS Fellows) the opportunity to lead interdisciplinary graduate seminars in topics that are of broad interest to graduate students across the division. Their goal is to promote excellence in interdisciplinary research and graduate training via exposure to cutting-edge methods and concepts.
ISS hosts conferences that focus on critical societal issues, showcase the research being undertaken by social scientists at UC Davis, and bring major scholars and leaders to campus.
ISS sponsors and co-sponsors a broad range of events, including major and small conferences, lectures, workshops, colloquia, symposia and film screenings.
ISS supports reading groups in order to encourage and allow faculty and graduate students to assemble on a regular basis to discuss various thematic and interdisciplinary areas of interest. Four interdisciplinary reading groups will convene in 2016-17.
