ASPIRE Alumni

Learn about some of the students who have participated in ASPIRE.

Maryam Awwal

Maryam graduated ahead of schedule in Spring 2017 and will be pursuing a second Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Law and Theology at Zaytuna College. Her ASPIRE faculty mentors were Dr. Lisa Pruitt and Dr. Jacob Hibel.

Raphael Geddert

Raphael graduated in Spring 2017 and will be working as a Junior Specialist with Dr. Marjorie Solomon on a project exploring cognitive control in autism. Raphael hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience. His ASPIRE faculty mentor was Dr. Steve Luck and his honors thesis was titled Examining Attentional Bias to Inherent and Conditioned Threat Using Behavioral and Electrophysiological Measures. 

Nathaniel Gutierrez 

Nathaniel graduated in Spring 2017 and will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Bioengineering at University of California, San Diego. His ASPIRE faculty mentor was Dr. Lee Miller and his honors thesis was titled Drug Delivery Processing Device for Treating Congestive Heart Failure Patients. 

Brynna Thigpen 

Brynna graduated in Spring 2017 and hopes to pursue a career in policy. Her ASPIRE faculty mentor was Dr. Simona Ghetti and her honors thesis was titled Self and Success: Self-Concept Coherence and Improved Accuracy on Difficult Math Tasks.
