Graduate Student Support
Summer Travel & Research Funds
Matching funds will be available to departments for summer travel by graduate students in the Division of Social Sciences. This could include travel to conferences or to conduct research in archives or in the field.
Dissertation Improvement Funds
ISS offers funds to the individual graduate programs in the division for competitive research support awards aimed at helping advanced graduate students successfully complete their dissertations.
These retreats are for advanced PhD candidates to share their work and receive feedback from fellow graduate students from different disciplines. This exchange of ideas often helps students to clarify their thinking or to have breakthroughs that help them in the completion of their dissertations. Retreats are for 10-12 students and facilitated by 2 or 3 faculty.
The 2016-17 dissertation retreat, co-hosted by ISS and DHI, will be held April 7-8, 2017. Applications closed on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
