Social Science Data Service

The Social Science Data Service provides cost effective specialized resources in support of quantitative social scientists.

The mission of the SSDS is to support quantitative research in the Division of Social Sciences. The SSDS supplies the Division of Social Sciences with a research-oriented shared computing environment that takes advantage of economies of scale, supported by expert consulting in data acquisition, manipulation, and analysis. While historically tasked to serve the departments of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology, the SSDS now supports the entire Division of Social Sciences.

The SSDS staff provides comprehensive support for quantitative research. The Data Librarian (Jean Stratford) assists researchers in efficiently identifying, selecting, and acquiring the data most appropriate for their particular research project. The Statistical Programming Consultant (John Daniels) administers the SSDS computing resources, and provides programming consultation for all aspects of quantitative social science research.
